f16s in air

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) for the U.S. Air Force (USAF). With approximately 3,000 operational F-16’s around the world, the F-16 was designed as an air superiority day fighter but soon evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Key features include a frameless bubble canopy, side-mounted control stick to facilitate maneuver, a reclined ejection seat to reduce g-force effects on the pilot and the first use of advanced avionics including a fly-by-wire flight control system. In addition to the USAF and Air Force Reserve/Air National Guard units, the aircraft serves in the air forces of 25 international military organizations and remains the world’s most successful, combat-proven multirole jet.
